Getting There

This is especially true when the local baseball team, the New York Mets are home. Their stadium, the Shea Stadium, is situated adjacent to the centre.

US Open Travel By Bus

Take the number 48 bus to Willets Point and it is then an easy walk to the tennis centre. Alternatively catch either the Q23 or Q58 to the corner of Corona & 51st Avenues and walk east to Flushing Meadows.

US Open Travel By Train

The Long Island Railroad will get you to Flushing Meadows in just over 15 minutes. To catch the LIRR make for Penn Station in Manhattan, or from Long Island get to any station along the Port Washington line.

US Open Travel By Subway

Take the Flushing bound IRT #7 subway from either Grand Central or Time Square. Travel time is estimated to be about 30 minutes. Disembark at the Shea Stadium/Willets Point stop and then it is an easy stroll of about three minutes to the US Open venue.

US Open Travel By Car

  • From Manhattan: Make for the Triboro Bridge and then on to the Grand Central Parkway East. Take exit number 9E (Northern Boulevard East/Shea Stadium) and follow the Shea Stadium exit. At the ramp turn right into Stadium Road, left at the second stop sign and the USTA Tennis Centre is on the right. Parking will cost in the region of $15 - $20.
  • From Brooklyn: Take the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway to the Grand Central Parkway East and follow the directions set out above.
  • From Long Island: Take the Long Island Expressway to the Grand Central Parkway East and exit at the Shea Stadium exit. Follow the directions from Manhattan.
  • From Connecticut: Take the I-95 to Whitestone Bridge and then on to the Whitestone Expressway. Get off the expressway at exit 13 - 25east/Northern Boulevard/Shea Stadium, and follow the signboards to Shea Stadium. The USTA Billie Jean King Centre is right next door.
  • From Northern New Jersey: Get to the George Washington Bridge and then make for the Cross Bronx Expressway East to the Major Deegan Expressway south. Then it is on to the Triboro Bridge, Grand Central Parkway East and the Shea Stadium exit.
  • From Southern New Jersey: Go across Staten Island to the Verrazano Bridge and the Brooklyn/Queens Expressway North. From there head to the Grand Central Parkway East and the Shea Stadium exit. Follow the directions from Manhattan, outlined above.
